I’m excited to announce that the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs has awarded me a grant as part of their Citywide COVID-19 Emergency Response Program: Reimagine Public Art.
When the opportunity for this grant opened up, I knew I wanted to write an original song. I also knew I wanted to play all the instruments -- piano, bass, and guitar -- which would be a significant challenge because I'm still rehabbing two badly broken fingers on my left hand. But music can heal, and my hand is a testament to that truth. I hope the song can bring us some healing, too.
Lucky for me, my friend and producing partner Michael A. Simon will direct the accompanying music video, which will also be shot entirely in captivity, I mean, at home. The video will debut in mid-June and will be featured on the Reimagine Public Art online gallery. Check out their current exhibition.
I can’t wait to share the finished video with you. I hope everyone is vaccinated, healthy, and looking forward to a brighter tomorrow.
Thank you to the Department of Cultural Affairs for this opportunity.
